Partners: R. Bruce Chamberlin and Meredith A. Moore
Moore Chamberlin & Associates is an independent consulting firm specializing in community health development, health promotion, health planning, program evaluation and research. For nearly twenty-five years, our teachers have been northern and First Nations communities and community organizations in Saskatchewan and Ontario. We specialize in "community health development": a purposive process of building strong resilient families, communities, and nations by developing awareness and critical analysis of strengths and challenges, increasing skills required for change, acting to help create change in a planned series of cooperative actions, and reflecting regularly on the process of change.
This process attacks the root causes of learned helplessness and dependency, rebuilds community, and makes sustained development more likely. It also often results in health care services which are more appropriate to local needs and which build on community strengths. In carrying out our work, we use community development methods, and rely heavily on participatory research approaches and methods, contributing needed skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods as required. In recent years, our work has increasingly focused on evaluation research, strategic planning, health systems design, organizational development, as well as on-going involvement in community development work.
Married 32 years, Bruce Chamberlin and Meredith Moore have strong skills in community research and planning, training, and health systems design and implementation. Our commitment to assist northern communities and First Nations and their services to be self-reliant is rooted in our continuing commitment to community development. As community development practitioners, we see each project both as an opportunity to learn from the community as well as share our experience and skills. We strive to ensure that we leave each organization and individual richer in the skills and knowledge and understanding required to make real improvements in the quality of community, family and individual life.
